Dr. Karen Johannesen Brock
Founder
Dr Brock has spent more than three decades teaching, researching, and implementing school improvement efforts on a community, district, state, and national level. Her work with the school develops both readiness and practical understanding of research regarding organizational change and school improvement efforts – she has developed a framework that has been tested in schools and districts that works to effect change. Her program has directly been responsible for taking schools and districts from underperforming classrooms to high-impact classrooms. Her approach couples pro-active modeling, organizational change constructs, and with the implementation of her “6 Factors of Highly Effective Schools” it has shown to drive cultural and performance change.
Her 6 Factors framework assists districts to highlight and expand strengths. Dr. Brock supports states, districts, and schools in evaluation and implementation efforts. In her work with school evaluation, she has worked extensively with more than 100 schools and districts in their use of Title I and state funds with the focus on their impact on student achievement and improved instruction. A gifted educator, presenter, and change agent; she has taught at the elementary school level, performed as an elementary special educator, taught at the university level in both Educational Leadership and Foundations and in the Business and Organizational Communications modalities. Her teaching of various aspects of philosophy and theology on a University level has garnered her the praises of those seeking to improve their individual lives.
While working at all levels within the K-12 school systems, Dr. Brock’s primary focus over the past 20 years has been school improvement. Possessing excellent staff development skills, and organizationally sound leadership positioning, her goal is every school can be and should desire to be the model of a Highly Effective School. By placing the 6 factors in a model fit for administration, teachers, and the community, a roadmap is built whereby the needed factors can be actioned. With a relentless focus on results and student achievement data that tells the story, she guides and coaches a quality school improvement plan that is easily understood, mirrored, and actioned.
